14 Dec 2006 Members and friends will be saddened to learn of the death yesterday in Exeter of Muriel E Shaw, former CNHSS President and Curator. The funeral will be held on Friday, 22 December. Further details will be available from Brian Lancaster and John Greig.

01 Oct 2005 12 Nov 2005 The South London Botanical Institute (SLBI) will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 12th November 2005 from 11am - 2pm.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the wide ranging activities at the Institute. Enjoy a guided tour of London's smallest botanic garden, our historical herbarium and extensive botanical library. The CNHSS herbarium was presented to the SLBI a few years ago. The SLBI is open every Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm and volunteers are always welcome.

09 Nov 2004 Croydon Online ( http://www.croydononline.org ) the community website for Croydon has been relaunched with a brand new look and is receiving an average of 18,000 visitors a month.
New areas include Local history offering an insight into the service provided by the Local Studies section of the Council's Libraries Division. Many photographs, historic facts and statistics are available. People interested in genealogy are also well served with information on family research, a people finder database and access to both World War 1 and 2 Rolls of Honour.
